The President of Ukraine emphasized diplomatic efforts to compel the Kremlin toward peace
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Russian leadership currently aims to continue hostilities. At the same time, the head of state expects that next month could bring significant changes to the diplomatic process. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Олена Бджола) citing Volodymyr Zelenskyy, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The head of state emphasized the need to create conditions under which it becomes more profitable for the Russian authorities to end the aggression rather than deepen the conflict. According to the President, both Ukrainian intelligence and the intelligence of partner countries indicate that the Russian leader personally remains committed to a prolonged confrontation.
Although a significant portion of the Russian population is already inclined to support freezing hostilities along the current front line, the Kremlin ignores these sentiments. Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that the government continues to coordinate efforts with allies to ensure the safety of Ukrainian citizens.
Diplomatic contacts with the US administration
High expectations are placed on the results of the work by US President Donald Trump’s representatives, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Their upcoming visit to Kyiv is expected to be a significant step in establishing direct negotiations.
Kyiv maintains daily contact with the American president’s inner circle to increase diplomatic pressure on the aggressor. Previously, it was reported that CIA Director John Ratcliffe initiated the possibility of a trilateral meeting involving the leaders of Ukraine, the US, and Russia to discuss ending the war during a secret visit to Moscow.
