The decision on terminal operations outside Ukraine must be approved by the White House
SpaceX head Elon Musk expressed readiness to allow Ukraine to use Starlink-equipped drones outside its borders to strike military targets in Russia. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing the Telegram channel of Crimean Wind, based on data from Financial Times.
Details of the conversation emerged during coverage of the Ukrainian delegation’s visit to the United States. Former Minister of Defence of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov held talks with the head of SpaceX as part of his working trip.
During the discussion, Musk noted that the technical unlocking and enabling drone targeting against targets in the aggressor state is political in nature. For this reason, final authorization for using the commercial satellite network for such operations must come from the White House.
Attracting Investment to Military-Tech Startups
Fedorov’s trip to the US focused on finding financial partners to establish a specialized defence tech fund. The initiative involves creating new manufacturing companies as well as investing in existing Ukrainian technology ventures.
The planned funding is intended to accelerate the development and scaling of innovations designed to counter Russian aggression and enhance Ukraine’s defence capabilities.
