On the night of September 5, the rf deployed ballistic missiles and over 160 UAVs
On the night of September 5, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces neutralized 128 Russian strike drones. Air defense systems operated during a massive attack that also involved ballistic weaponry. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing the Telegram channel of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The enemy carried out a combined raid using Iskander-M and KN-23 ballistic missiles. The launches were conducted from the territory of the Rostov and Voronezh regions of the rf. In addition to missile weaponry, the invaders deployed 167 strike UAVs, including Shahed-type drones, Gerbera drones, and Parodiya decoy drones. The flight paths of the Russian weapons originated from the areas of Orel, Millerovo, Kursk, as well as the occupied territories of the Donetsk region and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
Scale of the defensive response
The defense effort involved air defense units, aviation, electronic warfare assets, and mobile fire teams. As of 08:30, 128 unmanned aerial vehicles had been successfully neutralized. The results of the air defense operations include both the physical destruction of targets and their suppression via electronic warfare countermeasures.
Impact of the enemy strike
Despite the intensive work of the sky defenders, strikes by enemy missiles and UAVs were recorded at 23 locations. At one additional site, debris from downed targets was reported. Some of the Russian drones failed to reach their intended targets, and the final status of these units is currently being clarified by the relevant authorities.
As of the morning of September 5, the air threat remained active as individual groups of drones continued to move through the airspace. The command urges citizens to follow established safety protocols during air raid alerts.
