Key primary oil distillation units AVT-6 and AVT-3 were hit
The Defence Forces of Ukraine struck the Ryazan Oil Refinery in russia using FP-1 drones. The attack ignited a fire and disabled over 77% of the facility's total primary oil processing capacity. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing the Telegram channel of Fire Point.
The strike was carried out as part of an operation to demilitarize russian industrial infrastructure. The Ryazan Refinery is one of the largest facilities of its kind in the russian federation, with an estimated total annual capacity of 17 million tons of crude oil.
Disabling of critical equipment
The primary targets during the raid were the distillation columns of the ELOU-AVT-6 unit. This complex is the largest primary processing unit at the plant, capable of refining 8.5 million tons of oil annually.
In addition to the main unit, a strike was confirmed on the equipment of the AVT-3 complex. Its design capacity is 3.1 million tons of oil per year, which significantly adds to the volume of disabled production resources.
Consequences for russian oil refining
Combined, the damaged units accounted for 77% of all primary processing capacity at the plant. Following the successful FP-1 drone strikes, a massive fire broke out at the refinery, which will require extensive repairs to resolve.
