On the night of September 6, the Ryazan Oil Refinery in Russia was struck by Ukrainian drones, resulting in a large-scale fire at the facility. Simultaneously, explosions were reported in Rostov Region, where air defense systems were activated. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Валерія Абабіна) citing the Telegram channel of Exilenova+, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The Ryazan facility is one of the key assets in the aggressor state’s oil refining industry. It has an annual refining capacity of approximately 17 million tons of crude oil.
The plant specializes in producing diesel fuel, various grades of gasoline, and aviation kerosene, which the Russian side actively uses to meet the needs of its own army. Recently, the facility has repeatedly become a target for strikes, notably in late July of this year, when an impact caused fires at both the refinery and the warehouses of the Wildberries marketplace.
Official Confirmation of Events
Governor of Ryazan Region Pavel Malkov confirmed that a fire had broken out on the industrial site. According to the official, the fire was caused by falling debris from unmanned aerial vehicles.
Pavel Malkov reported that operational service units are currently working at the scene, with preliminary data indicating no casualties resulting from the attack. Meanwhile, in Rostov Region, local residents observed the active operation of Russian air defense systems during the night explosions.
