In the Repky community, the water tariff reached 242 hryvnias per cubic meter
The cost of centralized water supply and sewerage services in Ukraine ranges from 56 to 242 hryvnias per cubic meter, depending on the region and settlement. The highest rates were recorded in Chernihiv Oblast. This was reported by Socportal citing The Page, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
In various regions of Ukraine, total tariffs for water supply and sewerage differ significantly due to the transfer of relevant powers to the local level. Price formation is influenced by utility companies’ electricity costs, the general condition of networks, service consumption volumes, and the need to maintain infrastructure.
Cost of services by region
The highest total tariff for water supply and sewerage has been established in the Repky community of Chernihiv Oblast, where it amounts to 242 hryvnias per cubic meter. The top three localities with the most expensive water also included Uman at 158.33 hryvnias and Borodyanka in Kyiv Oblast with a tariff of 139.34 hryvnias per cubic meter.
Prices also vary across other cities in different regions. Specifically, a cubic meter costs 91.24 hryvnias in Uzhhorod, 81.01 hryvnias in Vinnytsia, 63.79 hryvnias in Kyiv, and 56.38 hryvnias in Lviv.
Additional expenses for residents
In addition to direct water consumption, consumers in some cities pay a subscription fee. For example, in the capital, this payment can reach 94.38 hryvnias per month.
The Kyiv City Council calculated that an increase in the tariff to 63.79 hryvnias per cubic meter means approximately 200 hryvnias in additional monthly expenses for a family of three. At the same time, the economically justified cost in large cities may exceed 90 hryvnias per cubic meter.
Compensations and consumer support
Local communities apply various support mechanisms for the population by channeling funds directly to vulnerable categories of citizens or covering tariff differences for water utilities. A special compensation program operates in Vinnytsia, amounting to 113.8 hryvnias per person monthly for houses with hot water and 149.5 hryvnias for houses without it.
At the same time, some cities are forced to cancel such initiatives due to local budget deficits. This happened in Boryspil, where about 10 hryvnias per cubic meter were previously compensated, after which the respective costs were fully shifted to consumers.
Impact on housing subsidies
Official tariff increases do not lead to the automatic loss of housing subsidies for households already receiving state aid. Following a change in service costs, the amount of payments is recalculated automatically provided that the new rates have officially entered into force.
State assistance covers water consumption expenses within established social standards. You can apply for a subsidy through the Diia portal or via your personal account on the web portal of the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
