The number of deputy ministers is planned to be reduced by 20 percent
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, as part of the state apparatus optimization, plans to cut more than 4,000 vacant positions in central executive bodies in the first stage. The process will be accompanied by functional diagnostics of agencies and a review of their authorities. This was reported by Economichna Pravda citing the Telegram channel of Serhii Koretskyi, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The government initiative provides for a phased change in the structure of central executive bodies. A functional analysis of each agency is currently underway to determine whether their assigned tasks align with modern state priorities.
Optimization of management staff
In addition to eliminating vacancies, Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi announced a reduction in the number of deputy ministers by approximately 20%. In other central executive bodies, the number of deputy heads is planned to be decreased by nearly 18%, tying these staff positions to real workloads.
State Administration Council work
To oversee the state apparatus reform, the relevant Council, comprising parliamentarians, experts, and executive branch representatives, has resumed its activities. A detailed transformation plan was presented and responsibility areas were defined for each workstream during the meeting.
Personnel training and financing
The government pays special attention to professional development and the training system for civil servants. To attract young professionals, they plan to launch updated internship programs and develop a separate mechanism for veteran integration.
Defense spending
Changes in the management system take place against the backdrop of seeking resources for the security sector. Previously, the Ministry of Defence, the General Staff, and the Logistics Forces Command already decided to free up 15.6 billion UAH by reviewing production contracts and cancelling several planned procurement items.
