Kyiv and Washington are reviewing options for a sectoral truce in energy and maritime domains
Ukraine and the United States are discussing the potential introduction of a sectoral ceasefire that could cover the energy sector and maritime sphere. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this during an online conversation with media representatives. This was reported by Glavcom, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
Official Kyiv is currently reviewing all proposed initiatives, though no final conclusion has been reached regarding the most realistic scenario. The head of state confirmed that he held three telephone conversations with American partners over recent days, noting a visible intensification of diplomatic contacts and meetings.
Negotiations in the United States
The Ukrainian delegation has traveled overseas to hold a round of talks with American representatives scheduled for Friday and Saturday, October 9-10. Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he expects concrete results from this trip by his team.
During the upcoming meetings, the parties intend to discuss the further trajectory of a diplomatic settlement to the armed conflict. In addition, negotiators will focus on strengthening international support for Ukraine.
New White House Peace Initiative
The US administration previously announced the presentation of a joint peace package aimed at ending hostilities. Ukrainian officials are set to discuss this document with special representatives of the US leader Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
