Ukraine’s metallurgical industry reports output decline for nine months of 2026

Pig iron and steel smelting volumes dropped by over 20% compared to last year

During the first nine months of 2026, Ukrainian metallurgical plants produced 4.46 million tons of pig iron, 4.43 million tons of steel, and 3.73 million tons of rolled products. The figures reflect a decrease in production volumes compared to the same period in 2025. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from Ukrmetallurgprom.

In January-September of the current year, the production figures for Ukrainian metallurgists tracked the industry’s overall trends. Pig iron output reached 77.1% of the volumes recorded during the same period in 2025.

Decrease in steel smelting volumes

Steel production for the specified period amounted to 4.43 million tons, which corresponds to 80.2% of the previous year’s results. Meanwhile, the rolled products sector reached 3.73 million tons, representing 77.0% of 2025 levels.
