The US politician blamed incompetence for the outbreak of the conflict
Donald Trump has claimed that Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine occurred due to incompetence. He also falsely alleged that the Ukrainian state has lost about a third of its territory. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Юлія Капітонова) citing DWS News, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The American figure expressed a desire to speak frankly regarding the background of the military-political crisis. According to him, the outbreak of this conflict could have been completely avoided had different decisions been made.
He again stressed that during his tenure in power, no threat of active hostilities would have existed. The politician added that there were no objective grounds for an armed confrontation between the nations.
Statements on Occupied Territories and Elections
“It would have never started. There was no reason for this war to start between Ukraine and Russia. It started because of incompetence. It should have never happened,” Trump said.
In addition, he released inaccurate data claiming Ukraine lost 30% of its land during the war. In reality, Russia occupies approximately 19% of Ukrainian territory, including Crimea and parts of Donbas seized prior to 2022.
On the same day, Trump publicly addressed the people of Ukraine, urging them to elect a new leader instead of incumbent President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Economic Deals with the Kremlin
It also emerged that an announcement was made regarding agreements reached with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin on October 9. These envisage supplying millions of tons of Russian diesel fuel to global and US markets.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the move, stating that such decisions effectively provide the Russian side with additional financial resources to fund its war effort.
