Deliveries of FPV drones to Ukrainian troops increased by almost 3.7 times
In 2026, the Defence Procurement Agency of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine contracted 300% more unmanned aerial vehicles than during the entire previous year. The agreements cover multi-role drone systems at tactical, operational, and strategic levels. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
In recent months, the pace of concluding contracts for unmanned aerial systems has accelerated significantly. The agency contracted approximately 5.5 times more drones of various types compared to the same period in 2025.
According to Minister of Defence of Ukraine Yevhenii Khmara, the primary objective is to supply the armed forces with effective unmanned platforms operating at every operational echelon.
Tactical and deep strike capabilities
The minister noted that the military receives deep strike systems designed to hit targets deep inside Russian territory. To eliminate enemy UAV operators, disrupt supply logistics, and target command posts, middle strike drones are widely procured.
He emphasized that advanced technological capabilities and high procurement volumes improve operational efficiency while minimizing risks for Ukrainian service members on the frontline.
FPV drone contracting metrics
The procurement agency has prioritized deliveries in the FPV drone segment. So far in 2026, the contracted volume of FPV drones has already exceeded the total figure for all of 2025 by 54%. Concurrently, actual deliveries to combat units grew almost 3.7 times.
These operational figures became achievable due to financial support from international partners as well as the scaling up of domestic defence industry capacities.
Industrial planning and supply chain stability
The defence ministry is focusing on making military supply lines predictable by matching frontline demands with domestic manufacturing capabilities. Consistent contracting schedules help domestic manufacturers plan production, secure supply chains, and order necessary components well in advance.
“We are increasing orders for the Ukrainian defence industry and scaling up solutions that deliver results on the battlefield,” Yevhenii Khmara concluded.
