Russian forces struck the CHPP-5 plant near Kharkiv despite the “energy truce” announced by Trump

A series of explosions rang out in the Kharkiv suburbs on October 11, starting at 18:15. Impacts were recorded at an energy facility. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the strike on CHPP-5 during his evening address, according to Suspilne News, as reported by the PromPolitInform portal.

“There has just been a strike on CHPP-5 in the city of Kharkiv. On Kharkiv’s energy infrastructure. In total, over the course of this week alone, the Russians launched more than 200 strikes against our electricity generation and transmission facilities in Ukraine. Another 17 strikes during the week targeted gas and oil facilities,” Zelenskyy said.

An hour before the Russian attack, around 17:20, US President Donald Trump had announced an energy truce.

“An energy truce in the war between Russia and Ukraine takes effect immediately. Both sides have agreed. Do not violate it!” Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social. The Ukrainian side did not confirm the truce.

Russian strikes on the evening of October 11 resulted in a hit on a grocery store in the suburbs of Kharkiv. Three people were killed and nine were wounded; the injured include two children.
