Andrius Kubilius proposes integrating Ukrainian defense developments into EU system

Europe aims to strengthen its own defense industry and reinforce NATO through joint projects with Ukraine

The European Union plans to integrate Ukrainian defense innovations and combat experience into its own defense architecture. This was announced by European Commissioner Andrius Kubilius during the Warsaw Security Forum. This was reported by Ukrinform, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

According to the European Commissioner, the key goal for the continent is to leverage Ukraine’s capabilities to strengthen general defense capacities. Such cooperation is aimed not only at bolstering European security but also at increasing the overall effectiveness of NATO and the transatlantic partnership.

The “Europe 3.0” Concept

To achieve these goals, there are plans to implement a concept called “Europe 3.0”. It encompasses both the direct development of armaments and the optimization of management mechanisms for them, which is critical for regional stability.

Currently, the European defense industry is forced to solve complex tasks. Specifically, these include accelerating weapons procurement to meet NATO commitments by 2030 and consolidating the fragmented defense-industrial complex.

Joint Defense Priorities

Andrius Kubilius highlighted several key areas where joint EU-Ukraine projects could be most effective. These include anti-drone systems, the development of air and missile defense capabilities, ensuring the security of the eastern borders, as well as protecting maritime and space assets.

Simultaneously, European institutions are discussing the creation of a European Security Council. It is expected that this body will involve third countries, including Ukraine, Norway, and the United Kingdom, to allow for rapid responses to security threats and faster decision-making across the continent.
