Ukraine has supported the US President’s initiative to implement an energy ceasefire and declared its readiness to guarantee compliance with these terms. Meanwhile, Russian forces are ignoring the agreements and continuing daily air and drone strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure. President Zelenskyy announced this after meeting with the Ukrainian negotiating team, as reported by Channel 24 and the PromPolitInform portal.
Zelenskyy received a briefing on the outcomes of meetings in the US and ongoing daily communication with the American leader’s team. The Ukrainian side has already defined the diplomatic framework and specific steps for achieving peace.
Kyiv has confirmed its absolute readiness to guarantee an energy ceasefire and to take concrete de-escalation measures, provided Moscow takes reciprocal steps in response.
However, Russia is completely ignoring the conditions outlined by the American side. Air raid alerts continue across Ukraine, with systematic strikes by Russian drones and guided aerial bombs targeting critical infrastructure.
“If these strikes are Russia’s response to the American President’s statement, it means the Russians have squandered yet another opportunity to bring peace closer,” Zelenskyy emphasized. He emphasized that the effectiveness of de-escalation currently hinges primarily on the position of the United States and the ability to exert appropriate pressure on the Russian side. Dialogue with the American side is ongoing at all levels.
It is worth recalling that Russia refused to agree to the temporary truce proposed by Trump.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov cynically stated that Zelenskyy does not deserve it, claiming that during such a pause, Europe would have the opportunity to “pump Ukraine full of new weaponry to continue the terrorist war against the Russian people.”
