US President commented on the disputed fuel infrastructure ceasefire
US President Donald Trump stated that the energy ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia is holding because of his personal demand. The American leader announced the alleged wartime agreement on Truth Social on Sunday. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy subsequently criticised Washington's decision to lift restrictions on Russian diesel. This was reported by European Pravda, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The American leader spoke with reporters outside the White House, addressing questions regarding potential violations of the arrangement. The politician stated that he needed time to verify reports concerning ongoing shelling and attacks.
Responding to journalists pointing out that both warring nations seemingly had no prior knowledge of consenting to the truce, the head of state offered a blunt explanation. «Well, they agreed. Because I said: “You agree.” That is why they agreed. Because I said so, that they agree», Trump declared.
When questioned further about attacks originating from the Russian side, the US leader questioned whether the violations were solely one-sided. «Well, I’ll have to check that, because there were violations on both sides», he added.
Earlier, the Washington leader publicly announced the introduction of a temporary freeze on fuel infrastructure strikes on his social media platform. On Monday, Trump also defended a separate arrangement with the Kremlin regarding Russian diesel purchases.
These actions by the White House sparked strong condemnation across Ukraine and European capitals. Specifically, Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the unilateral lifting of sanctions enabling Russian fuel exports as deeply unfair and dishonest.
