Andrii Sybiha: Russia ignores energy truce and continues attacks

76 strikes on energy facilities have been recorded since the initiative was announced

Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha stated that moscow is not observing the energy truce announced by US President Donald Trump. Since the initiative began, occupying forces have carried out dozens of attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. This was reported by Ukrinform, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

The Foreign Minister reported that over the specified period, Russian forces launched 76 strikes against Ukrainian energy capacities. Despite international efforts to halt hostilities, the enemy continues to destroy the life-support system, leaving thousands of Ukrainian families without electricity.

Over the past week alone, the aggressor used nearly 2,700 strike drones, 1,700 guided aerial bombs, and 66 missiles, mostly ballistic, against Ukraine. According to Andrii Sybiha, these actions are direct evidence of moscow’s lack of any desire to fulfill the commitments it has made.

The minister emphasized that Russia is trying to secure the lifting of economic restrictions without changing its destructive behavior. Furthermore, the Kremlin seeks to preserve revenue from waging the war and is merely simulating a readiness for diplomatic settlement.

“Easing economic pressure under such circumstances could provide the Kremlin with additional resources to finance the war,” the minister noted. He urged international partners to draw the necessary conclusions, as reducing Russia’s expenditures on aggression will not lead to peace but rather encourage the continuation of hostilities.

The Foreign Minister is convinced that any effort to end the conflict must be based on increasing sanctions pressure on moscow and limiting the profits that fuel its war machine. At the same time, Ukraine’s defensive capabilities must be strengthened to protect cities and critical infrastructure from further shelling.
