Vestibule No. 1 will accept passengers according to the usual schedule, while exit No. 2 remains closed
Starting October 23, vestibule No. 1 at the Chernihivska metro station in Kyiv will reopen after being closed due to damages sustained during an enemy attack. Passengers will be able to use the exit towards the Darnytsia station. This was reported by Glavcom citing Kyivskyi Metropoliten, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
Kyivskyi Metropoliten informed that access to the station will be provided from 5:31 to 23:27. Despite the partial restoration of the facility, vestibule No. 2, facing the Lisova station, is not yet ready for passenger traffic.
Consequences of the October 19 air attack
Damage to the capital’s subway infrastructure occurred during a night shelling on October 19. Falling debris from enemy targets caused structural damage to the station, as well as damage to tracks and cable networks.
Immediately after the incident, traffic on the red line was limited to the section between Akademmistechko and Darnytsia. Surface stations Chernihivska and Lisova were temporarily closed for boarding and alighting.
Resumption of red line traffic
Full train service between the endpoints Akademmistechko and Lisova was restored on the morning of October 20. However, despite trains passing through Chernihivska station, it remained closed to passengers for some time due to extensive damage.
Repair crews continue to work on addressing the consequences of the attack to ensure the safety and stable operation of the transport hub. Further information regarding the opening of the remaining station infrastructure will be released upon completion of the necessary works.
