Zaporizhkoks Produced 875 Thousand Tonnes of Coke in 2024

Coke production volumes increased by 2.1% year-on-year.

Private Joint Stock Company Zaporizhkoks increased blast furnace coke production by 2.1% in 2024 compared to 2023, reaching 874.6 thousand tonnes. This was reported by GMK Center, citing the company’s press release, according to PromPolitInform.

In December, Zaporizhkoks raised output by 4% compared to the previous month, to 74.2 thousand tonnes. Compared to December 2023, production increased by 3.2%.

In the fourth quarter of 2024, the company produced 219.36 thousand tonnes of metallurgical coke. This was 2.3% higher year-on-year and 0.3% lower quarter-on-quarter.

In the third quarter, output totaled 220.1 thousand tonnes (+2% year-on-year; -0.1% quarter-on-quarter), in the second quarter — 220.36 thousand tonnes (+2.3% year-on-year; +2.6% quarter-on-quarter), and in the first quarter — 214.82 thousand tonnes (+1.7% year-on-year).

The average monthly production volume in 2024 stood at 72.89 thousand tonnes, compared to 71.41 thousand tonnes in 2023.

As previously reported, in 2023 Zaporizhkoks increased blast furnace coke production by 16%, or 119.4 thousand tonnes, compared to 2022 — reaching 856.8 thousand tonnes. In December 2023, the company produced 71.9 thousand tonnes of blast furnace coke, up 1% year-on-year and 3% month-on-month.

In 2022, however, the company reduced blast furnace coke production by 11.9% compared to 2021, to 737.4 thousand tonnes. Output declined following the suspension of operations on March 1, 2022, due to the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Production was partially resumed on April 1, 2022. The company’s products were supplied to enterprises of the Metinvest Group, including the Zaporizhstal steel plant.

Zaporizhkoks is one of the largest producers of coke-chemical products in Ukraine and is part of the Metinvest Group. Its primary consumer is the Zaporizhstal steel plant.
