Ukraine can use Starlink to destroy Russian missile batteries
Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, after his release, is trying to continue contacts with Elon Musk. Ukraine needs SpaceX’s help to destroy Russian ballistic launchers. This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to The Atlantic, the PromPolitInform portal informs.
The publication recalls that, according to unnamed sources, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky turned to Musk for help during his last meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House.
Journalists claim that the head of state of Ukraine wants to use the Starlink system to strike missile batteries that launch ballistic missiles at peaceful cities in Ukraine.
The Atlantic writes that Trump did not give a specific answer to Zelensky.
At the same time, people from Fedorov’s entourage reported that after his dismissal, Fedorov is trying to contact Musk through unofficial channels, but the owner of SpaceX does not want to change his position yet.
“At the moment, there is no positive solution,” said one of the journalists’ interlocutors.
According to him, Musk continues to argue with Fedorov about the risk of further escalation of the war from Russia.
“Elon continues to say that it is time to make a deal,” he added.
Russians disconnected Starlink
The Atlantic recalls that in late January, Fedorov managed to convince Musk to disconnect Russian access to Starlink. This happened during a telephone conversation.
Such measures allowed Ukraine to turn the situation on the front line and launch a counterattack. Several hundred square kilometers of territory were liberated from Russian soldiers.
The problem of ballistics
Recall that rumors that Zelensky is asking Musk for help in destroying Russian ballistic launchers appeared last week. There is no official information about this.
This happened against the background of an acute shortage of anti-ballistic missiles in Ukraine. There is currently no possibility of shooting down Russian ballistic missiles.
At the same time, the head of the Ukrainian state emphasized this week that the military is aware of the need to destroy the enemy’s launchers and they will do it.
