As of January 1, updated wage levels for a number of public sector employees have come into force in Ukraine. The increase resulted from a revision of the unified pay scale and an increase in key social indicators that affect the calculation of base salaries. According to the PromPolitInform portal, this was reported by Pershyi Biznesovyi.
The changes affected employees whose salaries depend on the subsistence minimum and the unified tariff scale. In particular, pay raises were granted to certain categories of education professionals, healthcare workers, social service employees, cultural sector workers, and junior staff of public institutions. Minimum salaries for some civil servants were also updated.
The government explains that the goal of the increase is to reduce wage disparities and strengthen motivation in sectors experiencing staff shortages. The updated salaries have become the basis for recalculating bonuses and additional payments, which has further affected overall income levels.
Economists note that the impact of the changes will depend on further inflation dynamics and budgetary capacity; however, the pay raise has already become one of the key decisions of the beginning of the year for the public sector.
