Acting Minister of Defense Yevgeny Khmara congratulated the Air Force soldiers on their professional holiday. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, writes ArmyINFORM. The PromPolitInform portal informs.
From the first days of the full-scale war, Russia wanted to freely use Ukrainian skies to strike our people. It did not work out, because our aviation and air defense did not allow this enemy. The Air Force has closed the sky.
Since February 24, 2022, the Ukrainian air defense has destroyed more than 445,000 air targets. Among them are “Daggers”, “Calibers”, Kh-101, Iskander-M ballistic missiles, tens of thousands of “Shaheeds”, reconnaissance UAVs, “Lancets” and other enemy drones.
Yevheniy Khmara noted: over four years of full-scale war, the Air Force aviation has carried out more than 38 thousand sorties, destroyed more than 12,000 enemy air attack vehicles – airplanes, helicopters, missiles and drones.
These are not just numbers. These are cities protected. Lives saved. Threats destroyed.
And this is the power of people who hold the Ukrainian sky. Pilots. Engineers. Technicians. Radio technical troops. All our crews and calculations. Every day you repel attacks and master the most modern equipment – from Raven to Patriot, from MiG-29 to F-16.
“Defense of the sky, unfortunately, is achieved at the cost of losses. We remember each and every one who gave their lives for the Ukrainian sky. We are working to ensure that you have more modern weapons. More opportunities to shoot down targets, save lives and hit the enemy. Thank you for your service and high results. May the number of landings always equal the number of takeoffs,” emphasized Yevgeny Khmara.
