The European Parliament on Wednesday, February 11, supported the proposal of the European Commission to provide Ukraine with a loan of 90 billion euros to finance military and budget spending.
This, according to European Truth, is stated on the website of the European Parliament, informs the portal PromPolitInform.
MEPs supported the loan for Ukraine for the period 2026-2027 years 458 votes in favor. 140 lawmakers opposed and 44 abstained from the vote.
The loan for Ukraine consists of 60 billion euros of military assistance and 30 billion euros of budget support financed by EU borrowing.
If certain weapons needed by Ukraine are not immediately available in EU countries, a number of targeted exceptions will apply to their supply from other countries outside the bloc.
Financial assistance will be provided in accordance with the needs of Ukraine.
In order for the decision to finally come into force, the European Council must also officially adopt a package of legislative acts on the allocation of credit. It is expected that the first payment will be paid at the beginning of the second quarter of 2026.
