In some areas of the front, Russian occupiers’ losses are 25 times higher than those of Ukrainian defenders. The massive use of drones is shifting the situation in favor of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This was stated by British Defense Secretary John Gili, according to RBC-Ukraine, citing his comments to Bloomberg. PromPolitInform reports.
Casualty ratio on the front
According to the British minister, the effectiveness of the Ukrainian defense in certain areas has increased significantly. Gili emphasized that Ukraine’s efforts are producing visible results, despite constant enemy pressure.
“The number of Russian casualties for every Ukrainian loss in some areas of the front line has increased from approximately six to 25,” the British Defense Minister stated. Western officials attribute this dynamic to the saturation of the front with Ukrainian drones, which allows for the targeted destruction of enemy personnel and equipment while minimizing risks to Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel.
State of the Russian Army
John Gealey noted that although Russia is actively recruiting new soldiers, this has not resulted in an increase in its forces directly in the combat zone.
Currently, the size of the Russian contingent remains stable at around 712,000.
“This is an important reminder for all of us that Ukraine is under enormous pressure from Russia… but they are recapturing some territory and some cities,” he added.
War is depleting the Russian army.
As a reminder, NATO previously stated that Russian troop losses since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine have exceeded 1.3 million killed and wounded. This figure is even higher than the official figures of the Ukrainian General Staff.
Furthermore, according to the Financial Times, the Kremlin is facing serious difficulties in recruiting new contract soldiers. Despite exorbitant payments, the pace of mobilization is slowing, jeopardizing Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s plans for further offensive operations.
It has also become known that, due to a shortage of its own resources, Russia is actively recruiting foreigners to fight in the war against Ukraine. Specifically, the occupiers are attempting to recruit mercenaries from Africa and Asia, using them as “cannon fodder” in the most brutal assaults.
