The Swedish government on Thursday, February 19, approved the allocation of the 21st package of military assistance to Ukraine worth 12.9 billion kroner (1.2 billion euros).
This was announced by the Swedish Minister of Defense Paul Jonson, SVT reports, informs the portal PromPolitInform.
According to the Minister, the assistance will focus on strengthening the air defense of Ukraine.
The total cost of the new package is 12.9 billion SEK (about 1.2 billion euros). The first part (about 400 million euros) is that Sweden will acquire and transfer the Tridon system to Ukraine – to strengthen protection against Russian drones. The system will include robots, sensors, drones-hunters and anti-aircraft guns (all this will be installed on vehicles).
Another 524 million euros will go to the Ukrainian production of long-range missiles and drones.
The rest – more than 280 million euros – will be used for grenade launchers from the reserves of the Swedish army, and will also go to the purchase of artillery shells, spare parts and training of Ukrainian personnel.
About 300 million euros will go to grenade launchers, artillery shells, spare parts, etc.
Recall, on February 13, the Swedish authorities announced the contribution of $100 million to the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine as part of the PURL project.
