In the last week alone, Russia launched over 3,170 strike drones, more than 1,300 guided bombs and 74 missiles of various types, most of which were ballistic, against Ukraine. This was reported by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, writes Slovo i Dilo. The PromPolitInform portal informs.
According to the head of state, Russian troops continued massive attacks on Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure. As a result of shelling during the week, 52 people died. Also, 346 people were injured, including 22 children.
The President emphasized that Ukraine needs to strengthen its air defense system, as this directly affects the preservation of lives.
“We must be self-sufficient in defense so that Russian air terror cannot threaten either Ukraine or any other country on the continent,” Zelensky said.
He also noted the importance of the PURL programs and additional contributions to anti-ballistic missiles, as well as the development of a joint system for protecting Europe from ballistic threats.
We will remind, on the night of Sunday, May 17, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with 287 strike drones of various types. Air defense forces eliminated 279 enemy targets.
In particular, explosions were heard at night in Zaporizhia, Kharkiv and Dnipro.
