The missiles flew at extremely low altitudes to reduce the likelihood of detection by Russian air defenses
Ukraine has officially confirmed the combat use of new FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles for the first time. On the night of June 27, they successfully hit the Titan-Barricades defense enterprise in Volgograd, which produces artillery systems and launcher elements for Russian missile systems. As Mind reports, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported on the results of the strike. The PromPolitInform portal informs.
“Tonight, FP-5 Flamingo missiles successfully hit the Titan-Barricades enterprise in Volgograd. This is a large industrial complex where the enemy manufactures artillery systems and special military equipment, including elements of missile launchers for strikes on our people. A hit was recorded with a subsequent fire on the territory of the plant,” Zelensky said.
The president also thanked the Ukrainian military and engineers for the development of long-range weapons.
“The geography of Ukrainian long-range sanctions is constantly expanding. It is our pressure that lays the foundation every day for a decent peace to finally come,” he stressed.
According to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Titan-Barricades plant produces artillery systems and critical components of launchers for the Iskander-M operational-tactical complexes, as well as the Topol-M and Yars strategic missile systems, which Russia uses as an element of its nuclear triad.
The Russian authorities confirmed the attack. The governor of the Volgograd region admitted that the strike damaged production facilities of one of the enterprises in the Krasnooktyabrsky district, where the Titan-Barikady plant is located.
Later, the Russian administration reported that the body of one of the enterprise’s employees was found during the clearing of the rubble. According to official data, the number of injured people has also increased to 11 people.
In addition, analysts from the GEOINT community “KyberBoroshno” analyzed the flight path of the missiles. According to their assessment, the FP-5 flew a complex trajectory through temporarily occupied territories and several Russian regions, bypassing areas with dense radar control.
The analysts also note that the missiles moved at extremely low altitudes to reduce the likelihood of detection by Russian air defense. According to their assessment, out of the five missiles launched, two could have been intercepted, while at least several reached the target area.
The strike on the Titan-Barricades was one of the deepest confirmed strikes by Ukrainian cruise missiles on a Russian military-industrial complex.
