In Kyiv, public transport fares will change from July 15, 2026. Thus, a single trip on the metro, buses, trolleybuses and trams may cost 30 hryvnias. This is reported by Fakty, according to the PromPolitInform portal.
However, the Kyiv City State Administration states that a discount system will operate for regular transport users, which will reduce the actual price of one trip.
What is the fare in Kyiv from July 2026
Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko signed an order “On establishing tariffs for passenger transportation services and the cost of tickets in urban passenger transport operating in normal traffic mode”.
According to the proposed model, the base price of a single trip will be 30 UAH. However, passengers who use a transport card and buy trips in packages will be able to save.
The price will depend on the number of trips purchased:
from 1 to 9 trips the price will be 30 UAH per one;
from 10 to 19 trips the cost will be 28.90 UAH;
from 20 to 29 trips you will have to pay 27.80 UAH;
from 30 to 39 trips the price will be 26.60 UAH;
from 40 to 49 trips the cost of the trip will be 25.50 UAH;
a package of 50 trips will cost 25 UAH per one.
The city also plans to retain the option of purchasing monthly travel passes. The cost of one trip will be lower, around 23.3-23.6 UAH.
A separate transfer ticket is provided for, costing 60 UAH. It will allow unlimited transfers between different types of public transport, in particular between the metro and ground routes, within 90 minutes.
What will be the cost of travel in Kyiv from July for schoolchildren and students
The city authorities note that they plan to preserve social guarantees for certain categories of passengers.
Students will continue to have the opportunity to use preferential conditions, so they will pay half the cost of the monthly pass.
Students are provided with free travel during the school year. In the summer period, a 75% discount will apply.
Therefore, the increase in fares should not apply to all categories of passengers equally.
Why do they want to increase the fare in Kyiv from July 15
The Kyiv City State Administration explains the need to change the tariffs by the fact that the cost of maintaining transport has increased significantly in recent years.
This is due to an increase in costs for electricity, fuel, repairs of rolling stock, maintenance of transport infrastructure and wages of employees.
At the same time, the tariff in the capital has not been revised since 2018. During this time, prices for the main resources necessary for the operation of the metro, trams, trolleybuses and buses have changed.
The new tariffs will apply to the metro, buses, trams, trolleybuses and the funicular and will come into force on July 15.
Electronic tickets purchased before July 14 at a price of 8 UAH will remain valid until September 14, 2026.
After September 14, all unused trips will be canceled, and the funds for them will be returned to the balance of the electronic ticket holder.
