A large-scale power outage occurred in several districts of Moscow, halting metro trains and trapping people in elevators. A fire at a local thermal power plant is cited as the preliminary cause of the accident.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Валерій Ульяненко), according to the portal PromPolitInform.

Power supplies were cut off in Zamoskvorechye, Danilovsky, and Gagarinsky districts of the Russian capital. The voltage drop caused significant delays for trains on the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya metro line, while crowds formed at Rizhskaya station due to non-working escalators.

The consequences of the accident affected the transport system and urban infrastructure

In addition to the transport collapse, residents were trapped in elevators across the blacked-out residential quarters. Nearby retail outlets also experienced a complete loss of lighting.

Specialized services are investigating the causes of the emergency

A preliminary version of the sudden power cut is a fire at CHP-20. Emergency vehicles were dispatched to the site, though the situation at the facility later stabilized and underground train services resumed.
