On the eve of the 35th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence, Vitali Klitschko presented 61 honours from the Mayor of Kyiv to military personnel. The city administration continues to provide equipment to the front line and support veterans. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing the Telegram channel of Vitali Klitschko.
The recipients were defenders who performed combat missions in the Donbas, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions, as well as those who participated in the liberation of the Kyiv region and the defence of the capital. The awards were timed to coincide with the celebration of Ukraine’s independence anniversary.
Support for Defence Forces and social programmes
The capital’s community has been actively assisting units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine throughout 2026. Over 52,000 unmanned aerial vehicles and other equipment have been delivered to military units.
Furthermore, under the “Support for Kyiv Residents – Defenders of Ukraine” programme, more than 1 billion UAH has been allocated. These funds are directed towards medical treatment, rehabilitation, educational needs, and vehicle purchase compensation for former military personnel.
