Russian forces attacked Kherson TPP with 4 guided bombs: equipment destroyed

The overnight shelling of Kherson's critical infrastructure resulted in the loss of all generation capacity

On the night of August 27, Russian aviation carried out an attack on a critical infrastructure facility in Kherson. Four guided aerial bombs struck the site, completely destroying the equipment of the Kherson TPP. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from Naftogaz.

During the night, occupying forces launched a series of airstrikes against the Kherson TPP, which is part of the Naftogaz Group. The enemy dropped four guided aerial bombs on the station, causing extensive damage.

As a result, the entire complex of thermal and power generation equipment that remained operational at the plant has been rendered useless. The station had long functioned as a civilian infrastructure object, despite having been targeted by enemy shelling multiple times.

Consequences for the city’s energy system

The facility was a primary source of heating for a large number of residential buildings in Kherson. Acting Chairman of the Board Serhiy Fedorenko stated that the damage sustained strips the city of its ability to receive heating ahead of the upcoming heating season.

The company emphasized that there was no military objective behind the attack, characterizing the actions of the Russian units as an act of terror against the civilian population. During the strike, the station’s staff managed to take cover, and there are no reports of casualties among the employees.
