The main export volumes passed through the railway and Danube river ports
From August 1 to August 26, 2026, Ukraine exported 1.423 million tons of grain, oilseeds, and processed products via alternative routes. This volume covers one-third of the required amounts for this period. Grain crops accounted for 822 thousand tons of the total. This was reported by UkrRudProm citing Taras Vysotskyi, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotskyi reported that grain shipments covered only 21% of the potential demand. The rest of the export flow in August consisted of oil, meal, and other processed products.
The main transport burden fell on railway connections and Danube ports, which transported approximately 600 thousand tons of products each. Road transport remained the least utilized, with a figure of about 80 thousand tons.
Logistics specifics and export forecasts
Of the total volume of road transport, about 40 thousand tons consisted of oilseeds. The official explained this share by the high cost of transporting cargo by trucks.
If the current shipping rates are maintained, Ukraine will be able to bring the August volume of agricultural products via alternative routes to 1.5 million tons. By the end of September, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food expects to reach a figure of 2 million tons.
