Transshipment capacities for agricultural products in countries neighboring Ukraine are currently fully occupied by their own harvest. Increased opportunities for transporting Ukrainian grain are expected after the peak export period in these countries concludes. This was reported by Elevatorist.com citing Taras Vysotskyi, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Taras Vysotskyi stated that transshipment schedules in neighboring countries are currently booked for two months ahead. The first available slots for Ukrainian cargo may appear in September, although volumes will remain limited.

Export peak limits transit

The situation differs from 2022, when capacity utilization was about 50%. The current coincidence of harvest and marketing periods in Ukraine and neighboring states, occurring between July and October, creates a shortage of infrastructure capacity.

Efficiency of alternative routes

Romania and Moldova remain the main hubs, handling approximately 70% of Ukrainian agricultural exports. Poland accounts for another 15–20%, while transit through Slovakia and Hungary is considered less economically competitive.
