RF Increases Use of Jet-Powered Shahed Drones: Over 2,500 Units Launched in August

The enemy is deploying drones immediately upon completion of the manufacturing process

Russia has significantly increased the intensity of its use of jet-powered Shahed drones against Ukraine, deploying them almost immediately after they are assembled at factories. In August, the number of drones used exceeded 2,500 units. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Тетяна Степанова) citing the Telegram channel of Serhii Beskrestnov, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

According to Serhii Beskrestnov, advisor to the President of Ukraine on the development of defense technologies, the production cycle of enemy drones is integrated into the operational combat process. While approximately 1,500 such units were recorded in July, the current month shows an increase to over 2,500 drones.

A key technological feature of the aggressor’s modern tactics is the absence of long-term storage for completed products. Once the drones leave the assembly line, they are promptly deployed to conduct strikes against Ukrainian territory.

Defense Depletion Tactics

In recent days, the systematic use of jet-powered drones has been observed during attacks on Kyiv and the surrounding region. As explained by Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Russian forces are deploying small waves of UAVs to maintain constant pressure on the capital.

The goal of this strategy is not a single massive strike but the depletion of air defense systems and the exertion of psychological pressure on the civilian population. The enemy’s limited resources do not allow for the simultaneous launch of large volumes of equipment, leading to the adoption of a format of continuous, exhausting bombardment.
