As part of the Eastern Economic Forum held in Vladivostok from September 2 to September 5, Russian security services have implemented tightened security protocols. The movement of the Kremlin leader is accompanied by a pickup truck equipped with an anti-aircraft machine gun, while city streets remain restricted due to the presence of military equipment.
Extensive traffic jams across the city resulted from road closures meant to ensure the unimpeded passage of the Russian dictator. Such practices are becoming increasingly common in regions of the Russian Federation, where military hardware and air defense systems are utilized to guard high-ranking officials and strategic infrastructure.
Analysts link these measures to concerns within the Russian leadership regarding Ukrainian strikes on rear-area territories. According to data from The New York Times, the Kremlin systematically takes steps to conceal its leader’s actual location, including the use of decoy motorcades.
Furthermore, the Russian president often travels via a specialized armored train equipped with secure communication systems. Dedicated infrastructure for this train has been constructed near key residences, allowing for minimized public visibility of movements against the backdrop of increased range for Ukrainian drone strikes.
