The President of Ukraine initiated personnel changes following an investigation into a shooting incident

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced the upcoming dismissal of deputy heads from the SBU and the GUR. The decision follows a shooting incident involving employees from both security agencies. This was reported by Ukrinform, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

The head of state held consultations with Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko regarding the investigation into the conflict between members of the security agencies. At present, law enforcement officials have already issued two notices of suspicion to individuals directly involved in the shooting, involving representatives from both the Security Service of Ukraine and the Main Directorate of Intelligence.

Investigation into officials’ conduct

The President emphasized the importance of establishing the objective facts surrounding the incident, starting from the first day of the situation. He stated that the leadership of both agencies will receive a formal assessment following the completion of a full internal investigation.

Responsibility for the incident has been placed on the deputy heads of the structures who oversee the relevant operational areas. The adopted personnel decisions are intended to ensure that such incidents do not occur again in the future.

Zelenskyy stressed that the actions of both structures in this situation were unacceptable. Consequently, responsibility for organizational failures and misconduct by subordinates will be borne by officials at the appropriate level.
