Total volume of funds collected since the start of the full-scale invasion exceeded 170 billion UAH
In August 2026, over 9.9 billion UAH was deposited into the National Bank of Ukraine special account for the defense sector needs. As of the beginning of September, the balance on this account was approximately 13 billion UAH. This was reported by Minfin, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
Throughout the last month of summer, nearly 298 million UAH was directed from this account to fund military requirements. Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, the total amount of charitable contributions from Ukrainian citizens, business representatives, and international partners has reached nearly 170 billion UAH in equivalent.
Mechanism of the special account operation
This account was established by the National Bank of Ukraine as a tool for centralized collection of voluntary donations for the needs of the Ukrainian army. Funds arrive in various currencies, including dollars, euros, pounds, zlotys, and other monetary units. Most of the resources are accumulated through domestic transfers, however, a significant portion of the funding is provided by international donors, who have transferred over 147.6 billion UAH from abroad.
Allocation of financial resources
The total amount of funds that have been transferred from the special account to the targeted needs of the Defense Forces is approximately 158.1 billion UAH. The main recipient is the Defense Procurement Agency, which received over 100.9 billion UAH, while 38.5 billion UAH was transferred to the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
In addition to the aforementioned agencies, financial support was provided to the National Guard, the Security Service of Ukraine, the National Police, the State Border Guard Service, the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence, the State Special Communications Service, and other state structures. A separate direction became support for regional military administrations, which received 2.9 billion UAH for the implementation of defense measures at the local level.
