Thailand has promised to implement export control changes by the end of the year
Russia continues to receive foreign components for the production of missiles and drones from China, the United States, Switzerland, Japan, and other countries despite Western sanctions. This was stated by Vladyslav Vlasiuk, the Ukrainian presidential commissioner for sanctions policy. This was reported by Glavcom, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
Despite existing international restrictions, the Russian military-industrial complex continues to find new ways to acquire microelectronics and other vital elements. The Ukrainian authorities are working with both manufacturing companies and transit nations to block such supply chains.
Supplies through South Asian countries
According to the official, Kyiv recently engaged with South Asian nations regarding the strengthening of export controls. In particular, Thailand has committed to introducing updates to its legislation by the end of the current year, which should significantly complicate the transfer of goods to Russia.
Issues with EU and US manufacturers
Particular focus is placed on the direct responsibility of corporations that produce critical components. «There are still very many Swiss and American components in Russian weapons», Vlasiuk said. He cited products from STMicroelectronics as an example, which are found in most Russian drones.
Reduction of imports from the Netherlands
At the same time, positive trends are observed in terms of reputational pressure on European businesses. Ukrainian specialists have virtually stopped detecting Dutch parts in enemy weaponry due to the threat of serious reputational losses for manufacturers.
Bypassing restrictions via China
The official stated that the Russian side constantly adapts to new challenges and seeks alternative supply methods. China’s massive market remains a problematic zone due to the lack of proper control over the subsequent movement of products after sale.
