Siemens Energy considers supplying 12 gas turbine units to Ukraine
Ukraine and Germany signed a series of energy sector agreements valued at over €155 million following the Ukrainian-German Business Forum. The documents were executed in the presence of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Federal Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz. The agreements focus on restoring and safeguarding Ukraine's energy grid. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing the Telegram channel of Ukrenergo.
Under the agreements, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine has established cooperation with Siemens Energy. The parties are collaborating to restore, modernize, and enhance the resilience of the Ukrainian power system. Specifically, they are examining the option of utilizing 12 Siemens Energy gas turbine units for distributed generation needs.
Equipment and Grid Cooperation
National Power Company Ukrenergo has agreed on partnership with two German power grid operators, 50Hertz and Amprion. This joint effort is aimed at accelerating the delivery of critical electrical equipment to Ukraine. Leveraging the capabilities of German partners, the companies plan to identify available manufacturing capacity and coordinate actions to secure the earliest production slots for transformers, cables, and switchgear from global vendors.
Partnership with Naftogaz Group
In turn, NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine and Siemens Energy agreed on three main areas of cooperation. First, the partnership covers facility protection, security audits, crisis management, cybersecurity, and rapid infrastructure recovery.
The second area involves the modernization of underground gas storage facilities, where a project to supply five gas turbine compressor units is being developed. The third pillar focuses on technical cooperation in power generation using Siemens Energy technologies and automated control systems.
