The Commander-in-Chief tasked the new head to overcome staff shortages and improve medical technology
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi introduced the new head of the Medical Forces to the personnel. The position was taken by Colonel of Medical Service Kostiantyn Humeniuk, appointed by the decree of the head of state. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing the Telegram channel of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Kostiantyn Humeniuk has significant professional expertise gained while serving in the Air Assault Forces and as Chief Surgeon of the Armed Forces. His career has earned him respect both among military medics and within the volunteer community and the civilian healthcare sector.
Medical reform priorities
The new commander is tasked with implementing quality changes into the army’s medical support system. Henceforth, the agency’s work must become more operational, technological, and result-oriented, measured by the number of saved lives of defenders rather than purely bureaucratic metrics.
Frontline staffing
A key challenge highlighted by Mykhailo Drapatyi is overcoming medical staff shortages within the ZSU structure. To enhance the effectiveness of frontline aid, it is necessary to attract additional specialists and concentrate resources on the needs of combat units.
During the official meeting, the results of the work of the previous Medical Forces chief, Major General of Medical Service Anatolii Kazmirchuk, were also noted. His tenure was acknowledged as a significant contribution to the development of the Ukrainian military’s medical system.
