Sappers neutralized 364 explosive hazards in a single month
In September 2026, units of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine cleared mines and explosive remnants of war from 1,347 hectares of liberated territories. Over the month, specialists discovered and neutralized 364 explosive items. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, based on data from Main Directorate of Mine Action, Civil Protection and Ecological Safety.
The main focus of humanitarian demining efforts was centered on critical and agricultural infrastructure facilities. In particular, specialists surveyed and cleared 339.84 hectares of farmland, restoring safe conditions for field operations.
In addition to agricultural land, sapper teams concentrated on restoring safety along transport arteries. During the month, 21.31 kilometers of roads and 40.4 kilometers of railways were cleared.
Contribution of Defense Units to Liberated Regions’ Safety
Specialized teams from the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Special Transport Service are involved in clearing liberated regions of explosive war remnants. Alongside defense ministry units, explosive ordnance disposal teams from the National Police and pyrotechnic units of the SES of Ukraine are engaged in the effort.
In total, since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, demining specialists have managed to locate and dispose of 483,366 explosive items across liberated Ukrainian lands.
