A digital procedure replaces paper documents for those involved in minor traffic accidents
Citizens can now file a Europrotocol for road accidents online through the Diia app. The service involves automatic data entry from state registries and rapid transmission of documents to insurance companies. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Ірина Костенко) citing Ivan Vyhivskyi, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs, in cooperation with relevant agencies, has implemented a mechanism that allows recording accident circumstances without calling patrol police. The procedure is fully integrated into a smartphone and involves automatic information verification.
Data exchange automation
When filing through Diia, information about drivers, vehicle registration documents, and valid insurance policies are pulled from state databases. Once signed by both parties via Diia.Pidpys, the document is automatically sent to the Motor (Transport) Insurance Bureau of Ukraine and subsequently to insurers.
Criteria for using the service
The electronic protocol can be used provided that only two vehicles are involved in the accident. Mandatory requirements include the absence of injured persons, valid OSATPL insurance policies for both parties, and agreement between participants on the incident circumstances.
To access the service, a driver must have a verified taxpayer ID, digital passport, driver’s license, and vehicle registration certificate in the app. If drivers show signs of intoxication or cannot reach an agreement, a paper protocol must be filed or police must be called.
