Kyiv modifies metro and bus operations due to Southern Bridge restrictions

The green metro line is split into two separate sections for train operations

Kyiv has introduced temporary changes to public transport services following the closure of the Southern Bridge. The adjustments affect both metro train operations and two bus routes. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Олена Чупровська) citing the Telegram channel of Kyiv City State Administration, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

Traffic organization on the green metro line has been adjusted. Currently, trains are operating in two isolated sections: between Syrets and Vydubychi stations, and between Osokorky and Chervonyi Khutir stations.

Bus route adjustments

In addition to the metro, the city’s ground transport system has undergone revisions. Bus routes No. 22 and No. 91 have temporarily altered their paths and are being diverted via the Darnytskyi Bridge.

The Kyiv City State Administration stated that the timeline for restoring normal transport operations remains undetermined. Further announcements will be made once the restrictions on the Southern Bridge are lifted.

Bridges as military strategy targets

The security of the capital’s bridge crossings during martial law remains a priority. Transport planning expert Dmytro Bespalov previously noted that Russia’s strategy might aim not at the physical destruction of structures, but at creating traffic paralysis and inciting public panic.

Western media, including The Telegraph, have previously suggested that Kyiv’s critical infrastructure could become a target for Russian attacks during the winter season. According to those reports, Russian General Sergey Surovikin may be involved in planning such operations.
