The EU will provide 3 billion euros in defense support next week
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held negotiations with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen regarding further cooperation. The parties discussed the provision of military aid to Ukraine and the situation in the energy sector. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing the Telegram channel of Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Ukraine has received another tranche of financial assistance for defense needs in the amount of 1.24 billion euros. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the receipt of funds and expressed gratitude to European partners for supporting the state’s defense capabilities.
During the dialogue with Ursula von der Leyen, the parties agreed on the details of providing an additional package of military assistance. It is expected that the total amount of new inflows will reach about 3 billion euros, with funds arriving in the budget as early as next week.
Russian energy attacks
A separate topic of conversation was the Russian shelling of critical infrastructure, which continues despite international statements about an energy ceasefire. In particular, a Shahed drone strike on a power plant in Kyiv was recorded, causing power outages in certain districts of the capital.
In addition, Russian forces launched a series of strikes on energy facilities in the Kharkiv region. The President emphasized the critical importance of partner assistance for protecting civilian lives and maintaining the stability of the energy system under conditions of aggression.
European integration processes
The teams have begun detailed discussions on further coordination of joint actions to strengthen defense. Preparation is also underway for the opening of new negotiation clusters within the framework of Ukraine’s integration into the European Union.
The Ukrainian side aims to open all planned clusters before the end of the current year. Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine’s path toward the EU is a guarantee of strengthening security across the entire European continent.
