Russian energy strikes cause new power outages in three regions

Power consumption limits for industry introduced across several regions

As of the morning of October 12, power outages were reported in the Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions following Russian attacks. Additionally, severe weather has left 63 settlements without electricity in three other regions. This was reported by Ukrinform citing Ukrenergo, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

Due to damage inflicted on energy infrastructure during enemy strikes, power supply has been disrupted in the Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions. Repair crews are currently working at sites where safety conditions allow.

Energy consumption trends

Following the attacks, hourly power shedding schedules of up to 1.5 blocks and capacity restrictions for industrial consumers have been implemented in several regions. These measures are in effect from 06:00 until the end of the day.

As of 09:30 on Monday, electricity consumption was 1.7% higher than on October 9. Experts attribute this change to a reduction in mandatory power cuts and cloudy weather with rain, which has significantly lowered the efficiency of residential solar power plants.

Weather impact and consumer advice

Separate power outages are being recorded due to adverse weather conditions. In the Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, and Ternopil regions, 63 settlements are partially or fully without power, with local power utility repair teams conducting repairs on damaged networks.

Given the current state of the grid, Ukrenergo is urging consumers to limit the use of high-power electrical appliances during peak hours. Residents are advised to avoid using energy-intensive equipment simultaneously between 17:00 and 22:00.
