NCEC releases tips for staying connected during power outages

The NCEC has published advice on device settings and roaming usage

The National Commission for the State Regulation of Electronic Communications, Radio Spectrum and the Provision of Postal Services has released recommendations for users. The guidelines focus on maintaining stable internet connectivity and mobile communication during prolonged power outages. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from NCEC.

The regulator has prepared a collection of practical tips, presented as an infographic, to ensure the autonomous operation of communication devices. The material covers key aspects of energy independence for home networks and the optimization of resource consumption on mobile gadgets.

Preparing equipment for power cuts

To minimize the risk of losing connection, users are advised to secure alternative power sources for their smartphones and routers in advance. When choosing fixed-line internet access under martial law, priority should be given to xPON technology, which is energy-efficient and allows for stable network access provided that the ONU subscriber terminal and router are powered.

Resource conservation and network settings

A crucial element of staying connected is knowing how to correctly use the national roaming feature, which allows switching to another available network if the primary operator is unavailable in a specific location. Special attention is given to battery-saving modes and limiting mobile data traffic.

Optimizing messenger performance

Experts recommend adjusting the automatic media download settings in popular apps such as Telegram, WhatsApp, and Viber. Disabling the auto-save option for photos and videos significantly reduces network load and helps preserve battery life during critical moments.

All provided information is intended to help consumers stay connected during power outages. The NCEC urges citizens to keep these recommendations for quick reference whenever necessary.
