Enemy attacks on checkpoints complicate logistics and movement across the border
Russian troops have begun systematically attacking border infrastructure, including sections of the border with European Union countries. This creates threats to the operation of checkpoints and the stability of logistics routes. This was reported by Ukrinform citing Andrii Demchenko, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
Russian occupation forces are demonstrating their readiness to strike facilities located directly on the border between Ukraine and EU member states. According to the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andrii Demchenko, such enemy actions represent a deliberate expansion of the fire impact zone.
Attacks on facilities in Odesa region and on the border with Poland
At present, shelling of border crossings has been recorded, particularly in the Odesa region and along the direction of the Yahodyn checkpoint. Enemy actions are targeting both road infrastructure and railway facilities, which directly impacts the country’s transit capacity.
Such enemy provocations result in significant complications for civilians and transport crossing the border. The disruption of established logistics chains poses additional challenges to maintaining seamless connections with European partners.
Safety of border crossing operations
Despite systematic attacks, the strategic objective for border guards remains maintaining the functionality of the border. Andrii Demchenko emphasized that border crossing operations must continue even under high-risk conditions, though with strict adherence to safety measures for civilians.
The agency is making efforts to restore checkpoint operations as quickly as possible following each incident. Coordination between Russia and Belarus, particularly involving the use of relay transmitters during drone attacks, remains a significant factor in regional instability.
A tense situation also persists in other areas bordering different nations. On October 5, a passenger bus was damaged during a Russian strike near the border with Moldova, resulting in injuries to a Moldovan border guard officer.
