The drone attack also damaged several pipelines at the facility
The Ryazan Oil Refinery in Russia suspended operations at one of its primary crude distillation units following a drone attack on Thursday. The plant has a processing capacity of 17 million tonnes per year and supplies fuel to Moscow. This was reported by Ukrinform citing Reuters, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The latest strike also caused damage to several pipelines located on the industrial site. This specific unit had previously halted operations last month due to a similar drone attack.
Alternative Processing Units
The refinery still operates three other primary crude distillation units which remain functional. These units can partially compensate for the shutdown of the damaged AVT-6 installation.
Refining Capacity and Output
The facility processes approximately 340,000 barrels per day, totalling 17 million tonnes annually. The plant is capable of producing 3.8 million tonnes of diesel fuel and 3.4 million tonnes of gasoline per year, serving the wider Moscow fuel market.
