Ukrainian Bronetekhnika and MBDA prepare joint weapons developments

Launch of joint products with the German manufacturer of missile systems is planned for the near future

Vladislav Belbas, CEO of Ukrainian Bronetekhnika, announced plans to launch joint products with the German defense company MBDA. The parties are working on this in the near future as part of developing defense projects between Ukraine and Germany. This was reported by Glavcom, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

Vladislav Belbas confirmed that the Ukrainian enterprise is actively cooperating with the European consortium MBDA. According to him, the transition to launching joint developments will take place in the near future. This step is part of a broader process of integrating the defense industry complexes of Ukraine and Germany.

Strategic partnership and directions

In June 2026, a memorandum of strategic partnership was signed between the companies. The document defined key areas of cooperation: the development of long-range strike weapons and the creation of effective counter-drone systems. The parties are also discussing the possibility of implementing joint production projects and the prospect of establishing a joint venture.

MBDA is one of the leaders in the European weapons market. The consortium was created in 2001 through the merger of the defense divisions of Airbus, BAE Systems, and Leonardo. The company specializes in precision weapons, including Storm Shadow/SCALP cruise missiles, Exocet anti-ship complexes, and Aster air defense systems.

Context of cooperation with Ukroboronprom

The cooperation of the German manufacturer with the Ukrainian defense sector is not limited to private structures. In February 2024, MBDA Deutschland subsidiary signed an agreement with the state concern Ukroboronprom. This document provided for joint research, development, and production of air defense systems, including counter-drone means.
