The capital is preparing an autonomous supply plan for both banks in case of isolation
If bridges in Kyiv are damaged as a result of Russian military strikes, the left bank may face disruptions in the supply of food, medicines, and fuel. This was stated by MP Kreydenko, emphasizing the need for early preparation of the capital for emergency situations. This was reported by Glavcom citing Focus, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The simultaneous shutdown of several crossings across the Dnipro River poses a threat not only to transportation, but also to the functioning of the megacity’s life support systems. The corresponding response plan must encompass various scenarios, ranging from the temporary closure of a single facility to prolonged disruption of traffic between the banks.
Autonomous Supply for Capital Districts
Special attention must be paid by the authorities to establishing reserves of fuel, food products, and medicines on each side of the city. It is also important to pre-arrange the operation of emergency services and determine available transportation routes.
“For a megacity like Kyiv, the simultaneous damage of several bridges is not only a transport problem, but also a threat to the functioning of life support systems,” Kreydenko noted.
Calculating Transport Isolation Timelines
The lawmaker pointed out that without comprehensive calculations, it is currently impossible to accurately determine how long both banks will be able to operate autonomously. The main task, according to him, is to prepare the capital in advance for emergencies to ensure the uninterrupted operation of critical systems.
Earlier, the Russian military leadership reported on targeted strikes against Ukraine’s energy facilities and strategic bridges. Specifically, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov reported to Russian leader Vladimir Putin on strikes against objects of strategic significance.
