EU to Allocate €145 Million in Aid to Ukraine Amid Worsening Humanitarian Situation – The Guardian

The European Union plans to allocate €145 million in assistance to Ukraine amid a worsening humanitarian situation, The Guardian reports, citing information published by Apostrof. The PromPolitInform portal reports.

According to the report, the EU announced plans to spend €145 million to support Ukraine by providing protection, shelter, food, cash assistance, psychosocial support, and access to water and medical services as the humanitarian situation in the country deteriorates following recent Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

“After more than a decade of hostilities and nearly four years of full-scale war, the people of Ukraine continue to endure immense suffering. Daily civilian casualties, widespread destruction of infrastructure, and mass displacement are further intensifying the already enormous humanitarian needs,” the statement said.

EU Commissioner for Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib stressed that the European Union remains firmly committed to ensuring that “people have shelter, warmth, and hope when they need it most.”

It is worth recalling that Italy recently delivered the first batch of energy assistance to Ukraine.
